What is this?

A demo of an Indian airfare price index. It watches 8 busy domestic routes and turns those fares into one number, like how CPI tracks inflation — but only for flights, and only as a prototype.

What does 100 mean?

The first complete month in the sample is set to 100. If the index is 105, fares in this basket are about 5% higher than that start. It is not official MoSPI CPI.

Is this live airline data?

No. These are demo (fixture) fares for 14 Sep 2026 so the pipeline can be judged. Booking websites are not being scraped.

Which fares go into the index?

Airline economy tickets booked 21 days ahead. MakeMyTrip is shown on the market view but cannot enter the CPI-style index. Missing prices are skipped — never treated as ₹0.
